Alexander’s practice is mainly focused on complex arbitration, litigation and insolvency cases. He is also involved in DPC’s banking & finance, energy and transport practices. He joined DPC early in his studies and had become a valued member of the team well before graduating from Sofia University.

One of Alexander’ biggest career successes is working on a complex shareholders dispute where DPC’s team managed to obtain a security order from a court which prohibited the counterparties from exercising their voting rights on the shares. A Bulgarian court had never before granted such an interim measure – prohibition on exercising a voting right on a share.

Alexander was also part of the team representing a group of Bulgarian and foreign electricity operators in challenging an administrative act of the Minister of Energy which imposed a temporary ban on the export of electricity.

Another milestone case he worked on was challenging an administrative act of the Bulgarian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, which resulted in a reference for a preliminary ruling to the Court of Justice of the European Union.

As a part of our dispute resolution team Alexander has worked on a number of insolvency proceedings and has gained notable experience with regard to medical malpractice. He has contributed to the successful recognition and enforcement of an ICC award in favour of a flag-carrier European airline.
